I'm new here and I'm very relieved to find you all.
I had some strange symptoms - the outer side of one big toe has been numb for about 6 months, I have stiffness in my neck and shoulders, I wake up with my teeth clenched together, there is a pain in my lower back (sciatica area) so...all of that I can contribute to a pinched nerve and stress.
About 2 weeks ago, the tip of my tongue started feeling numb and has a little split in it. That was it. I was sure I had MS and got into that horrible googling habit and I was so terrified.
So I go to the Dr. and he says he suspect gout! (What?? I don't even eat red meat!) And the tongue thing - maybe candida! What? So he does blood work and gives me anti-inflamatories and what I think is an anti-biotic for my tongue.
Leaving the Dr. I felt relieved and good, then once I was home I was convinced he was wrong...which he was. My blood work is perfect and my tongue is the same. He says now I should try not to eat anything sour or spicy for a week.
I feel that the Dr.'s are just stabbing in the dark. Now I'm thinking MS again, but I'm working hard on letting myself go into that horrible spiral into panic. I haven't gone to more Dr.s because I'm sort of scared to.
I'm trying to calm myself with meditation, and I took my first Ativan yesterday. Will not make a habit of it, but I was in such a state I was terrified.
Could my symptoms be MS?
Thank you all so much.
So...blood work comes back absolutely perfect.
