Anxiety - I hope this helps someone
« on: January 31, 2014, 02:09:43 PM »
Hey guys i want to tell you a quick version of my story and how i got to this point with HA.

When my anxiety peaked (around 09) i developed some EXTREMELY strange symptoms. Symptoms that indicate serious problems

- Dejavu followed by racing thoughts of nonsense.... These are similar to seizures and had me worrying a LOT. What did i find out? They happen after stress.... and once i found out what they were, they never happened again. I attributed them to a "psychogenic seizure" or something of that nature.

- Strange smells. (Smoke and Sweet) Again another worrying symptom. And again.... anxiety really seemed to trigger it. Another cause i found... sinuses.

- Head shivers - Very bizarre! But again... all anxiety related. The correlation between these symptoms and my anxiety peaking are just too easy to match up.

- Bowel problems - Either all the time or never. Messed with me quite a bit!

- The big one was Derealization - This along with my "psychogenic seizures" scared me. It made me truly believe there was something wrong with my brain for quite some time.

These are just a few. But i hope someone comes here, reads what i've had and realises ANXIETY ican play HAVOC with every part of you.

I've made the errors of googling - and still do. And i'm still worried about a few things to this day! But i now KNOW what anxiety can really do.

So there we have it... i've been through quite a bit in the past 4+ years... reading this back i'm really surprised i got out of it as well as i have!

All the best people - And thank you to everyone who helped me here along the way. Absolute LIFE SAVERS... the lot of you :)

good post! i had derealization/depersonalization for a few months and my googling habit convinced me that i had schizophrenia. if i had never googled, i bet those symptoms would have gone away much faster, but my constant obsessing over them only caused them to get worse because i was so anxious about having schizophrenia that i was making my anxiety disorder ten times more severe. turns out derealization is extremely common in anxiety and ocd sufferers and that's it even your brain's defense mechanism against stress to protect you! so once i learned that, the derealization eventually faded, and it hasn't come back with that force ever since.

Head shivers?   You mean like a chill on your scalp?  Please say that is what you mean!

Thank you!!!!  I've been getting that lately (right side of head, on ear and sometime chin - and especially if I eat ice cream!  I eat a lot of ice cream and it never happened before)  and I HAVE been stressed the passed few weeks, then THIS started a few days ago.  I appreciate the reply.

Thank you for going over this :) It gives me courage to kind of work out all my symptoms and know they're not a sign of the end of the world. For me, I get a sort of brain fog that zaps me of the ability to concentrate. I know for a while I thought I had a crazy brain disorder. I also tend to get a tingly feeling in my hands and feet. Not only that, but when someone around me is sick, I tend to sort of mimic their symptoms without knowing. Great example: I talked to my sister over the phone today, and she is sick with a sore throat, headache, runny nose....and lo and behold, after talking to her, I started thinking I have a sore throat....and a headache, lol. And that was just over the phone !!!

Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end.

Hold on if you feel like letting go.
