MRSA now!
« on: January 30, 2014, 01:31:09 PM »
I have cellulitis near my hip and my doc says she thinks I have MRSA. I am freaking the F out. She said its not ready for her to drain it, but I can barely sit here. I'm so scared.

If its MRSA, (hope it's not), you'll get thru this.  My brother had one removed from his buttock, then had to take a 30 day course of antibiotics.  That was 4 years ago, and now he's healthy as a horse.  I hope they treat you soon so you can get on with living!  You're in my prayers.   Hugs

I've had MRSA. So has my brother-in-law and a friend of mine. We're all still here and none of us have gotten it back. It's been about 5 years for me and b-i-l and probably 10 years for my other friend.

I knew someone who had it in her foot - she had no health insurance and was treated in the ER only ONCE.  She healed up, no problem.  I think the media sensationalizes it.  Your worry over it is worse than the sickness.

My friend got it too. It sucks but you'll get through it. Just make sure you have lots of probiotics and yogurt on hand.

They did an incision and drainage in the ER so hoping it's getting all better from here. My goal today is to not Google anymore.

BTW the ER doc said most people have MRSA on their skin, it's trestable and he sees it every single day. I'm listening to him and trying not to worry about it.

Good!   I think the media blows things WAY out of proportion and makes us crazy.

Unless you are very old, ill and fragile MRSA is not such a big deal.  Infact, many people are MRSA positive without even knowing it:)
