Is this true?
« on: January 27, 2014, 10:22:58 PM »
I heard that an eye doctor can tell if you have a brain tumor by looking behind your eyes with that bright light. Apparently it shows the nerves/optic nerve and if there's swelling it could be due to increased pressure in the skill from a tumor.

Has anyone heard that?

Yes, I have heard this.  I think the tumor has to be in the right spot for it to cause swelling and pressure to be seen in the eyes - if that makes sense.

Yes, somewhere that it is close enough to put pressure on your eyes -  for example - if it was in the back of your head I don't think it would put enough pressure on your optic nerves etc..

Yes, Lots of conditions can be identified by an eye examination. Of course an optician can go no further than to suggest you see a medic about it but they can be useful early warning signs :)

I also had an mri without contrast of my brain two months ago, so I hope that rules a tumor out...?
