Question for the ladies (TMI)
« on: January 26, 2014, 04:43:49 PM »
Okay this will be a TMI question, but this problem caused me a great deal of anxiety lately.

Okay so first of all im 17 and I used to have regular period until I September last year. I didn't get my period since, and had no symptoms of it. So now I dont get my period but i get some brown/red discharge and sometimes is just light yellow.

I went to a gyno about this 2 months ago, they saw my uterus and ovaries on a echo scan and said that they are in perfect shape. My gyno said I will get my period on 5 days and I didn't get it.
I had a blood test done a week ago (with everything there can be) and I also had a lab test for prolactin levels which came good.

I'm so scared from this and i don't know what it is. My parents don't care any more and I don't know what to do.

This could be an ovulation issue. If you are not ovulating sometimes you wont have a period. Periods react to stress also. The light yellow is this like where you have to where a pad or just discharge mostly when you go to the bathroom? The good news is you have a clean scan.

Both of the discharges (the yellow and the brown/red one) are only when I go to the bathroom, mostly when I'm there longer.
Otherwise nothing on the pad or anywhere else.
This month I got few drops of normal period blood the 2nd day after this started.
I've been under a lot of stress lately, maybe that has some effect.I should also mention i've never had a sexual intercourse and I'm a virgin.

I know a girl who stopped having hers for three months because of stress. If you are very unsure, you could get a second opinion.

A couple of years back, I stopped having my period for about 5 months, and like you instead I got the brown discharge.
I think it was down to stress, and eventually my period came back.
You did the right thing by getting checked,
I am sure it is just anxiety/stress.

When I was in college, I was very stressed out and my period had no cramps and lasted two days with brown discharge. It's normal.

Question? Are you very athletic? Female athletes sometimes stop menstruating
