Any Heart Worriers Experience This?
« on: January 24, 2014, 06:58:48 PM »
Wondering if other heart worriers also experience this.  When I eat a big meal (even a medium meal) my hearts POUNDS afterwards.

This of course sets off my panic attacks.

Anyone else experience this?

Yes! Pretty common even with people without anxiety.

How long does it last with you?  Mine can go on for a couple of hours.

It doesn't always happen, but when it does it can last a couple of hours.

I experience this too. Big meals = lots of calories = lots of fuel for your body. If you don't use up that fuel during physical activity, then your body just sits there with a ton of energy, without an outlet. It's like a car with a lot of fuel. You could use up the fuel by driving somewhere, but if you're just going to idle in the driveway, then the only way that car can burn fuel is by revving really loud. Your pounding heart is the revving engine.

That's just my interpretation. It still bothers me, especially when it combines with bloating/gas/reflux, and my chest hurts at the same time. Breathing also becomes uncomfortable.

Eating a lot does make your heart go faster in many cases, I have noticed this too, though it doesn't pound, but the rate increases.  Probably has something to do with chemical signals given off by the stomach when it is full.
