Has anyone ever thought you were on drugs
« on: January 24, 2014, 05:44:46 PM »
Has anyone ever thought you were on drugs because of your anxiety.

When I was in school, I would put my head down on my desk and close my eyes because of the exhaustion from anxiety.

A teacher had a conference with my parents and me in which he accused me of being on drugs.

After that conference, my anxiety was worse because I was paranoid people thought I was on drugs.

I also had a boss accuse me of being on drugs.

Ironically, since I've started taking benzos,no one has accused me of being on drugs-lol.

I've had one or two people think so at one stage in my life. More because of the loss of some weight. They assumed I was a junkie. So it can happen. It never bothered me what others thought. Those who knew me well enough knew better. That was all that mattered to me.

This can be a good opportunity for you (or anyone) to develop more confidence about what you think of yourself and not give a hoot what others think.

Some of us grow up so other oriented (me included) which can be burdensome and distressing, to put it mildly. When we become aware of this conditioning we can begin to fight it. It is liberating.

I've noticed people have become more concerned and ask a lot of questions, especially at work. I was working nights and would lay my head down on my desk during lunch, but rarely go to sleep. Just closing my eyes and relaxing for that bit of time was all I needed, but people seemed alarmed even after I explained it. I oftened wondered if they thought I was on drugs or had a substance abuse problem. It probably didn't help that at the same time I was on my diet and workout regime, and losing weight.

I grew up around family that had substance abuse problems, so I've never touched drugs or had a problem with alcohol, I honestly don't care for the taste of it.

Near the end of the day my eyes get bloodshot from my contacts. To the point where they're so hard to get out. People think I'm baked out of my mind.

News for me I can't  even get baked like everyone enjoys because OF my anxiety.

All the time, but I think it's just my character.

I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past me I will turn to see fears path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing......Only I will remain
