Freaking out-DVT-please help ASAP!
« on: January 24, 2014, 08:52:16 AM »
I've been having some discomfort in my calf for months now. It's not constant but it's at least everyday when I walk (not while stationary). I went to the doc and she examined my leg and sent me straight for a ultrasound of my leg, as she suspected DVT. The ultrasound didn't show anything. Ever since then, I can't help but think they missed something. The calf discomfort is still there, and last night I noticed that area is larger than the same area on my other leg. The only thing keeping me from running to the er is that I have a toddler and it's icing outside here.

Please help. I'm a mess.

The ultrasound would have picked up any problem. For example, I have had a pain off and on in my right
upper quadrant of my abdomen for around 10 years. Nothing has ever been found. I have realized I may have to
live with this the rest of my life. Your discomfort may just be muscular.

I'm going through the same thing right now.....I had 2 d dimers and both were negative. Because of that my doctor won't do an ultrasound. So if you had a negative d dimer and negative ultrasound you're good!

Right now since both of my legs have been hurting, I'm convinced that I have one in each leg!

My d dimer was actually positive at 60 (negative I believe is anything under 50). I just can't shake it that they missed something on ultrasound. :/

I understand the feeling but a positive d dimer can mean something as simple as a small inflammation in your system. It's the ultrasound that is the final authority...and that was good news!

Thank y'all very much.  I'm trying to relax and not think of this discomfort as something more sinister, and just trust the ultrasound.
