Cause of constipation? Colon cancer?
« on: January 21, 2014, 01:13:52 AM »
I know I shouldn't be asking about this because it is just my HA rearing its head, but...

I've had moderate constipation for the last 10 days; it arrived pretty suddenly. Typically I have a bowel movement daily. Stool softeners helped get things going last week. I took them for a couple of days, but once I stopped them, my normal bowel movements didn't resume. I have no other symptoms (no weight loss, no bloody stools, etc.). I don't feel particularly "stopped up."

I'm 45 (nearly 46). I had a colonoscopy three years ago -- at my PCP's suggestion, not mine (long story; he was a bit overzealous). Despite taxing Moviprep the day before, my colon somehow didn't empty out completely. But there was no sign of anything unusual.

Even so, the sudden change in my bowel movements has me wondering whether this could be a symptom of colon cancer. Of course, it could just be anxiety (as always)!

Any thoughts would be much appreciated!

anxiety causes  significant slowdown of your digestive system, due to it being non-vital for immediate danger. Its pretty common.
