Abnormal urine test? Trying not to panic!
« on: January 20, 2014, 12:34:55 PM »
I got called about my lab results. They said everything is fine I do need to lower my cholesterol a little bit. It is at 204 now they want it below 200. What freaked me out is she said I had an abnormal urine test. She asked if I drink enough water and I told her water is pretty much all I drink. No sodas, juice and milk sometimes, but mostly water.

She didn't seem to know much about my urine test besides saying it was abnormal. They rescheduled me for another test in a week. If it was something serious they would know right?!

So far I am not freaking out but this is the first time I have had an abnormal urine test. Help :(

I am not sure exactly what they mean by an abnormal urine test. I would ask them to be more specific.

Well I was fasting the night before and didn't drink much water either. (I usually drink a lot of water period but I just didn't that night.) could not having enough water and no food cause an abnormal urine test?

The nurse said just come back in for another test. Said common causes are dehydration and UTI. I haven't had burning or difficulty urinating, though.

Did they tell you to fast before the test? If they told you to fast, then the result scale would account for that.
