Yes, I went into a remission from GAD that lasted over 3 years. Following the advice in Hope and Help for your Nerves by Claire Weeks was one of the main things that got me through it and made my symptoms go away. Also, getting a job that kept me busy made a huge difference as well. I didn't have time to think about my anxiety, and it eventually went away.
I have recently fallen off the wagon and was experiencing horrible anxiety again, but I have started taking an SSRI for the first time in my life and I think it is starting to work because my anxiety the past three days has been low or non-existent.
