That is unexpected advice. I would have thought that eating low-fiber foods, like plain white rice, would help. Isn't that what is normally recommended for an episode of diarrhea?

That's specifically for infectious diarrhea, viruses and such when the colon is actually inflamed. Fiber is actually a remedy for both constipation AND diarrhea. It pretty much helps the colon maintain optimum functioning either way.

Are there non-SSRIs that won't effect stomach as much?

The SNRIs and tricyclics tend not to affect the stomach much, however, they often produce ongoing constipation, though YMMV.

The diarrhea seems to have vanished. But now I seem to have the sexual problems the doctor mentioned. This is day four of 10 mg of Lexapro daily.

It may not be as quick to diminish as the diarrhea. If it lingers you may find this useful.
