There was a thread few days back about biter taste in mouth and als. No, you dont have ALS and it's not initial symptom. Stop googling.

The reason there was a thread a few days back is because it's the same poster. There was a thread right before that by the same poster also asking about ALS and the same exact symptoms.

anagargano: it's been stated by multiple people in multiple threads that you do not have ALS, it does not present itself this way, and there are much more known reasons for the bitter taste - so why keep posting new threads about it?

It's not a matter of it being annoying (although it isn't fair to the other members), it's a matter of lack of acceptance. Accept that you have anxiety and accept that it is not ALS.

I don't think he meant to be hurtful. I think sometimes when people with HA have it under control, it may be harder for them to understand others whose HA is out of control at the moment.

We try to be helpful and supportive on here, so sorry about that. But do stop googling. Gosh I wasn't even aware about your problem having anything to do with ALS. I'm sure it's so remote and doesn't happen often. That's why googling gets us in trouble so often. It doesn't matter how rare, we still believe we are the ones who will get it.

How old are you?

One of my friend's mum's has ALS  her symptoms weren't vague when she presented. ALS definitely starts out much more drastically that a bitter taste in your mouth. It starts when you fall down because your leg gives out and then you have trouble using that leg from that point onwards.

It is also a disease that strikes people in their later years.

Googling will absolutely not help you. An example I use quite a lot is that a friend of mine had a twitching eyelid and googled the symptom. One of the first results that came up was eyelid cancer. Let me type that again. EYELID CANCER. The algorithms google uses don't bring up the most likely results first in the list which is why it's such a terrible tool for self diagnosis. It will only make your anxiety worse.

A bitter taste could be many things. I get it from eye drops I have to use. Protein shakes etc can also cause it. It could be a million benign things.

You don't have ALS :)
