Intrusive/negative thoughts are common with anxiety and the GAD syndrome. I have also had some severe ones over the last few months. Often times the symptoms of anxiety and the intrusive thoughts may provide a focus that one is about to go mad, but that doesn't happen. The fact is, we are so much more than our thoughts and our apparent physical symptoms.
You are the person that you are, and the intrusive thoughts will not change that.
It is not easy to do, but each time an intrusive thought enters your mind, do your best to stop and replace it with a positive thought. Find something beautiful in life, each and everyday, something to be grateful for, and don't forget to laugh.
The very best to you, Kath!... Chuck
