Sadly, 200-300/month IS "affordable" when you take into account average costs people are up against.  However, that doesn't help your pocketbook.

plus they have $6000 deducibles.. all obamacare really is useful for is catastrophic coverage... routine family visits are going to cost people a nice chunk of their annual income... inslaving the middle class.

my insurance has been $700 for at least the last 4 years. $200 would be awesome. Mine is basically emergency. If you think obamacare is the cause of problems in the insurance industry you have not been paying attention to what has been happening to health care in america since the 80s.

This is better than no insurance at all. I just had surgery and it would have cost me 73 000 without insurance. Not worth the risk. I am from Europe were we pay high taxes but we get back A LOT. Great health care, good school, women get 1 year paid maternity leave, almost free preschool for all kids not only the rich.
Health care is based on Income and if you can't afford it the Goverment pays. Since Americans love capitalism sooooo much it will never be like Canada or Europe. Socialism is better for the people. I have lived in 3 countries. Germany, Switzerland and now the U.S.  Some stuff is great here but what I realize is that people are just out for themselves over here. Its part of American mentality.

I think this can (and probably will) devolve into a debate over Obamacare and it's advantages and disadvantages.  This probably isn't the best forum to bring such gripes to the forefront.

Exactly it seems expensive because you aren't use to paying for it, but it's the same as someone having it deducted from their check every other week. I am personally thankful for it. I would have been screwed before if I lost my job. I have a big ol red flag pre existing condition on my record now. My medications without health insurance every month would cost me 5000 dollars. Yes, that's right 5000 a month! I have to take these injections every day of my life for it to work. Obamacare may end up saving my ability to walk one day. You are required to carry insurance for your car, why not your health?

For someone like me who can barely get by on my salary--this is a lot, simply because it is not there in my paycheck. I really do not know what to do. Does this cover the things we Need though? Like mammograms, colonoscopies??

Do you also have to pay insurance for kids too? Isn't it free under 18?
