i'm scared and don't know what to do
« on: January 05, 2014, 08:57:59 PM »
Last February I had a tiny growth removed from my hand I had them send the pathology report and it said diagnosis papilloma.  The office said it was a wart.  Fast forward about a year the growth comes back and I ask for another copy of the path report. (I had thrown the first one out so I wouldn't dwell on it).  Well this one said diagnosis wart.  It look similar but the diagnosis wording was different.  I called the office and they said that was the only report in the system.  I think that is strange.  I don't know why I am so worried because I guess a papilloma is the same as a wart but why the different reports?  Could it be billing?

I know that within the last year my Dr office transcribed all their paper records to make them electronic - maybe yours did something similar and when it happened papilloma got changed to wart?

I would not be concerned as my wife is a long pharmacist and she said that
doctors offices sometimes change the wording on the diagnosis, even though the
words mean the same.

So even though the first pathology report they faxed said diagnosis papilloma and the second one said verruca vulgaris which means wart?  I guess I don't know why I'm so worried, it's not like one said cancer and the other said wart, they both said basically the same thing.  I guess it just makes me nervous that it was changed and I wonder why....  I'm sure a person without anxiety wouldn't worry....or wouldn't know because they wouldn't request their pathology report once and definitely not twice...ugh....
