Symptom question
« on: January 04, 2014, 07:15:32 PM »
Hi Everyone,
Happy new year!
I have been feeling lightheaded on and off most of the day for about 6 weeks now. I usually wake feeling ok, then it creeps up on me. I have had all kinds of tests, everything was fine. Doctor thinks its anxiety. Could it be anxiety that long? I can go a few hours in the day and feel fine, then it starts. Yesterday I felt fine for most of the afternoon and evening, thought it was gone, nope, started again this morning.

Thanks for any help!

That happens to me all of the time too and it will usually start to creep up after I'm awake for a few hours.  I also have sinus issues which don't help the situation because my ears are always clogged which makes me dizzy too.  I know the lightheaded feeling is my anxiety and if you have been to the doc already that's probably what it is for you too.

Hi Lam...

As I have mentioned to you, feeling lightheaded is by far my #1 anxiety symptom.  It's been with me for 3-4 months now, and like you, mine comes and goes.  It wasn't that long ago that the episodes would scare me and I'd get "plugged into them", which just made it worse.  Now when they come up I just say, "Oh, you again; no big deal.", so I no longer feed them, but accept them.  Just last night I felt really lightheaded to the point I felt faint.  I just reminded myself that I had never fainted before and if I did faint tonight, what's the big deal.  It passed in only a few minutes.  I have learned this time around that accepting one's anxiety symptoms is key.  Don't fight them as that just feeds them and makes things worse.  It takes practice, but you can do it.

As always, the very best to you, Lam!...  Chuck

Thx Chuck.
Do you find certain things you do make the light headedness worse?

Hi Lam...

No, I really can't identify any triggers, or anything that really makes the feeling of being lightheaded, worse.  Distractions/keeping my mind occupied, seems to really help keep my anxiety symptoms away, or at least less severe.  I spent the better part of the day working outside in the yard, and had no anxiety symptoms while I was active.

The best to you, Lam!...  Chuck

I find the same. I went out for lunch with friends today and barely noticed any symptoms.
