Pressure in lower jaw
« on: January 03, 2014, 11:11:37 PM »
It feels like someone is exerting pressure on my back lower teeth. I'm also having my usual heart attack symptoms, so I'm terrified that this is it. Anyone have this before?  It's not really pain, but pressure.

Could they be your wisdom teeth?

I don't know, do wisdom teeth cause pressure, and would it be both sides simultaneously?

Mine did. Sometimes they grow sideways instead of up because there isn't enough room in your jaw - and it can feel like pressure or pain. I think they call them 'compacted or impacted' when they do that.

If it keeps up I'd go for a check up at the dentist. :)

I know some people can get their wisdom teeth much later than others but I don't know when the usual cut off is.

My brother had one of his out at 27 so it could be possible if you haven't had them checked out by a dentist in a while?

I haven't been to a dentist since I lost my dental insurance years ago. And I don't have any now.

You might want to see a gp then to get a professional opinion. Although I'm not sure what they'd be able to do if it IS your teeth. It would be worth checking it out though because If your teeth ARE compacted you'll probably have to have them removed eventually.

Although, as you know I'm just speculating. I'm not a doctor, just speaking from the experience I had a few years ago when I had to have all of mine removed.

A professional opinion would probably be a good move though if it keeps up! :)

When you do get to a dentist, ask him if it looks like to grit your teeth while you sleep.  Not grind, "grit" which is essentially just biting down as hard as you can.

I did that for years and my jaw would ACHE like mad when I woke up.  Dentist made me a small implant I wear when I sleep and now I don't do it.  The implant wasn't cheap but it does work.  Actually, I can't sleep without it now and my jaw no longer hurts.
