MRI next week. Very Nervous :-/
« on: January 01, 2014, 06:14:33 PM »
Hi there,

Happy New Year everyone! My orthopedist has ordered a chest and spine MRI for me for next week as I have been having back and rib pain off and on for 8 months. I am so worried they are going to find cancer. I'm on 28 years old and am not ready to die :-( can anyone ease my fears?

Thank you!

I just had a pelvic MRI 2 weeks ago.  I was right where you are, freaking the heck out that they were going to find cancer. (I'm 36). Everything turned out to be benign (Thank God). In your case it's most likely a disc issue or something. Have you ever had an MRI before? This was my first, I suggest Valium! Totally took the edge off and everything was so easy. Got the results the next day. Let me know if you have any questions.

the worst thing is the noise-take earplugs-it helps alot.  Test itself is  no big deal.

I had to have a brain mri for numbness on one side, i figured they would find a tumor but what they did fine was completely benign and not close to a tumor.
