Dirty needlestick at work
« on: January 01, 2014, 02:19:04 PM »
I was stuck with a dirty needle at work 2 weeks ago while giving an immunization. The patient was not high risk and had a negative hiv test but I'm still having a lot of anxiety about a 8 week follow up test and seroconversion. I know the risk of getting something from a patient riddled with aids is still only 1 in 3,000 and way less for a patient with an undetectable viral load but I'm still upset about the whole thing. Am I being obsessive? I was so stressed with waiting 2 days for the Initial results I can't handle waiting 6 more weeks

Get the RNA test and you'll put your mind at ease. I'd bet a years pay you don't have HIV. Astronomically unlikely.
