Still worried about heart attack
« on: December 29, 2013, 09:40:01 PM »
My name is Joshua. I am 22 years old. 215 LBS. 6 foot tall. I have a constant fear of heart attacks--that I will have one soon.  My cholesterol is 156 total. My LDL is 89. My HDL is 56. My Triglycerides are 99. My hemoglobin, calcium, sodium, and potassium all fall in with in normal range.  I have had 4 ER visits for fast pulse/chest discomfort.  I have had 5 ekgs, 2 chest X-Rays, 3 sets of blood work--All normal.  I even had a holter monitor for 48 hours and had some symptoms-but that also was normal.  I have a resting heart rate of 56-64.  No family history of early heart disease. I still can not shake this fear.  I list these tests only because they should tell me I am a healthy individual but I still think something is wrong.

Would anyone of you be worried if you've had these tests, even with some chest discomfort?

Any help would be appreciated

Probably yes, we would. That is why it is HA and not something else - we are rarely reassured by results coming back clean. I bet you had that chest discomfort because of a panic attack or high anxiety. Do you worry about the next PA/chest discomfort you may have? Do you any other symptoms when this happens? You are too physically healthy to be having a random heart attack at your age.  But that doesn't cure our mental illness I am afraid. :(
