Sigmoidoscopy--never again, at least not soon I hope!
« on: December 27, 2013, 01:26:49 PM »
Had a flexible sig this past week, and the mild discomfort they mentioned was anything but mild. It was highly uncomfortable and I was having terrible pains. Fortunately everything looked good, but the pain during was unexpected.

I have a high pain tolerance so I was surprised at how uncomfortable I was.

So glad it didn't bother you! I was a bit taken aback at how uncomfortable and frankly, painful it was.
I'm ultimately more thankful nothing was wrong. The GI ordered this, as I did not want one. I was having crazy issues which appear to be from food poisoning.

Praying your colonoscopy goes well!! Please keep me posted.

I've had quite a few flex sigs (I have ulcerative colitis), and only one really hurt, but that one was EXCRUCIATING. I think it was because that doctor used pretty old equipment. I switched doctors! They're certainly not comfortable, but generally I've found them to be tolerable. If the doctor uses too much gas to inflate the colon, that can also cause more pain.
