MRI of brain without contrast...REALLY WORRIED!!!
« on: December 23, 2013, 02:38:27 PM »
So last month I had an MRI without contrast of my brain, and the results came back "normal". I just need someone to tell me if an MRI without contrast is reliable and effective at discovering brain tumors. I'm terrified they missed something... Please someone help :(

Sure, if you have contrast, some things are more visible (like your cardio-vascular system). But a tumor is visible even without contrast. No doubt about it. No need for worrying.

What if the tumor was small? I'm just very worried... I went to the eye doctor three times for this too to see if my optic nerve was swollen from a tumor and it wasn't...

What if the tumor was small?

Well let me tell you, MRI is not an iphone camera. ;D It detects stuff. How small do you think it could be? If it was 1-2 milimeters wide, it would be visible for sure.

I guess if it was too small to see it wouldn't cause symptoms? At least that's what the doctor said. Unless it grew a lot within one month...
