Anxious over getting an MRI. How to stay calm?
« on: December 23, 2013, 09:57:32 AM »
I'm super nervous to get one and I'm not so sure how to calm myself. I'll be a wreck now and I'll be one until a get the results.
How do you stay calm with these things?

The first time I was nervous too. But MRI is nothing too bad, I promise. I would suggest you tell the nurse about your fears. They've had so many patients with these fears before! Sometimes a patient gets something to be more relaxed, like a mild tranquilizer. Inside the tube I tend to do breathing exercises or just relax. Sometimes they play music for you. Sometimes you have a small mirror inside the tube that lets you see what's going on in the technicians room. You also get a 'bell' to press if you should feel ill during the procedure.

For me, not knowing is always the hardest part. Once you'll be done with the procedure, you'll be proud of yourself. And should be! Treat yourself afterwards  :winking0008:.

Best of luck to you!

As others saw; I could not bring
