hand thing spreading
« on: December 06, 2013, 12:17:59 PM »
Yesterday I woke up to see two punctures on my hand and I thought it was a spider bite or a cat bite from my cat. Fast forward, by the end of the school day my friend pointed it out to me for it was a big red circle about the size of a half dollar coin. and so I marked around it in pen and then by the end of the day it spread a lot and started to spread down to my elbow, a line like red line, and so I took two Benedryl's and then went to sleep. In the morning I wrapped it up and went to school and now in school it has spread to my thumb, half of my back hand. I am worried about this and if any ideas are thought of please comment for I really want to know what this painful and spreading thing is on my left hand.  :fragend005:

Hypochondria is like a shadow, always there. I used to do so much fun stuff without my anxiety and now I do so little with it :(

Redness is a sign of infection. Visit your doctor or nearest hospital to see whether you need antibiotics ASAP.

To save money, you could show it to a pharmacist in the first instance. This will cost nothing, and the pharmacist will be able to comment on the level of infection and whether it is likely to need drugs.

If there's a wound or scratch and there's a red line spreading towards your torso you must really visit the ER as soon as possible. In that case it can be blood poisoning and you really need antibiotics a.s.a.p. If there's really a red line (that's the infected vein) you should not wait for your parents but go to the hospital.
