Left side twitching
« on: December 03, 2013, 09:09:03 AM »
Just a few weeks ago I was thinking how twitching is so common for people with anxiety but I've never had any twitching before. Well famous last words because for the past couple days I've started to have twitching in my upper arm, shoulder, foot and big toe. It is mild and comes and goes. One minute my toe will be twitching and the next my shoulder. This only seems to happen on my left side. Should I be worried?

Matt - I never had twitching that I noticed until I was scared I had MS from reading about it.

Then the twitching on my left side started along with pins and needles, tingling, weakness.

Twitching alone isn't a huge cause for concern. many people twitch. The fact that it started for you after started thinking about it should be a red flag for you. You told your brain to look for twitching and so it did.

My advice.....quit while you are ahead and stop worrying. I have HA before but the HA from twitches and other somatic sensations are the worst. Its all controlled by your nerves and when you worry your nerves get off track and can cause the symptoms your worried about which starts a downward spiral. Tension from anxiety can put pressure on your nerves as well causing issues.

Stop while you are ahead. You are fine. This site is littered with people who all have had twitches and have been cleared by numerous GPs and neuro docs.
