Is 100mg of Zoloft low or high as a dose for GAD?
« on: December 02, 2013, 11:32:32 PM »
I have mild/moderate GAD and have been taking 50mg of Zoloft for a month. I feel somewhat better but want to try a higher dose (psychiatrist appointment in two weeks). I'm curious as to what the average dose for GAD sufferers here is; I know that experiences vary but wonder what the baseline is

I'm curious as to what the average dose for GAD sufferers here is;

50mg is the usual minimum effective dose with most taking 100-150mg/day. The normal maximum is 200mg, with an inpatient limit of 300mg, but I'm aware of a few hardy souls who've been taking 400mg for extended periods (though if you need this much to get a response then another antidepressant should be considered, IMHO).

NOTE: I'm not a doctor, and particularly not yours, so there may be factors I'm unaware of. Therefore all advice is of a general nature and you should consult your doctor before following any of it, especially before changing med doses.
