Brain Tumor Scare? (Mom)
« on: December 01, 2013, 02:56:01 AM »
Hey,

So I've been worrying about my mom recently who is an anemic and has suffered from chronic migraines since I was young. Usually it starts in the morning and gets better. Usually, she's sensitive to light and loud noises but no vomiting, slurred speech, or being off-balance. There have been periods (weeks) where she's been headache free. They recently came back! Please help, I'm scared for my mom.

If she has had them for so long, no idea how old you are now, I am sure a doctor would have sent her for tests a long time ago. If it was what you suspect I think something would have gave by now. I do know people that have had these things for real and they knew very early on. It didn't take years to find out. But if you are really worried you could suggest a test or two. To put both your mind and your mother's mind at ease. Might be the only way to stop your worrying.

My mom said she's been dizzy and her ear feels kind of weird...but that could also be because she hasn't slept very much in the past week since my sister came home...

I asked when the last time she had a MRI was and she said 2 years ago, should I still be worried?

Get them to check her inner ear. I just got off antibiotics for an inner ear infevtion. Had vertigo so bad I literally gave myself motion sickness. She fluid in her ears could just be built up and trapped. This causes headaches, dizziness and naseau. It's a simple fix- course of antibiotics and she should be good! :) trust me- I played the tumor fear for almost 2 months and they just found out it was my inner ear... Took 5 doctors. I was ready to write my will :p the body is tough- and the simplest of things-like an ear infevrion- can make you think you are dying. Tell her to get her ears checked for fluid- I'm sure she's fine :)

Yes, being stressed and not sleeping can cause all sorts of symptoms, headaches included!  Need to have her visit a doc and find out why she's not sleeping and perhaps help her avoid some stress in her life.

Well, I asked her and she said she's been having headaches for 25 years so WAY beyond when I was alive. The doctor's tested her 2 years ago (MRI) and said she was fine. Is that enough for me to stop worrying? :\
