I have this "vibrating" feeling in my chest area too sometimes (not a twitch; a vibration) which scares me. I've had this sensation before in other parts of my body but never the chest. My stomach hurts and is doing weird things too.

I also have not exercised in a while (I used to be an avid weight lifter/runner and really still can be - I ran 6 miles a few weeks ago) mainly because I'm afraid to. The last time I ran I had like 6 extrasystoles (extra heart beats/ectopic heart beats) and it scared the crap out of me. My mom says she gets them too but it's hard for me to believe that it's benign.

Sorry for all the posts, I'm just really anxious right now. I can't even sit still. I'm trying to believe that the "fear is a liar" and praying to God for relief!

Sorry for the late reply! Yeah, I do have a heart arrhythmia that started before I began having health anxiety.

If you've had that "vibrating" feeling in other parts of your body, it's probably just a muscle thing. I read somewhere that most chest pain is actually chest wall pain and has nothing to do with the heart. It's harmless. Stomach pain could definitely be from stress and anxiety. How are you feeling now?

I'm okay. Plowed through my fear and ran a 5k this morning without stopping for a race. I'm just OVERLY aware of everything that happens near my chest so getting rid of that over-sensitization is difficult. Still going to the doctor on Friday because I'm worried.

That's great that you're running again. :happy0151: It's interesting you mentioned being overly aware of physical sensations, because I just read an article about that. It said that some people are naturally more aware of their bodies than others, and they are the one most likely to have health anxiety. Makes sense when you think about it.

What's the name of the article? I'll have to take a read.

My dad had tachycardia for 10 years and he always attributed it to anxiety and never went to the doctor about it. Then he mentioned it after having a bad episode and they gave him medication for it because it was a heart issue. I would've never let that go, whereas he did.

Alright guys, so I FINALLY got a full heart evaluation test yesterday that I paid for myself (cheap through Health Fair mobile screenings): ECHO, EKG, ASI, stroke/carotid artery ultrasound, abdominal aortic aneurysm ultrasound, PAD, lipid panel (results came right away and were great) and "Know Your Number" personalized comprehensive 5-year health risk assessment (for stroke, diabetes, coronary heart disease, congestive heart failure, COPD & lung cancer). I'll get the results of these in 10 days. I'm also getting a 24-hour holter monitor on the 30th. And THAT should be it!!! These are the tests I've been wanting for so long so hopefully I'll have peace of mind.

Funny how I just posted that last post: the SAME day, I took a nap and when I woke up to get in the shower, my heart began racing like no other. It went up and up and up (at least it felt that way) so I had to call 911. The paramedics came and took a look but I did not go to the hospital (it's not going to be like any other visit and I'm tired of wasting my insurance company's money on this stuff). I'm praying a lot!!! These test results can't come any sooner!!!

snew13 it seems like you are going through alot and worried obviously worried about the heart. Reading your posts, some are very similar to me situation. I won't get into too much detail since I have done that already on these boards. I would recommend reading my posts to understand what I have gone through.

The last 4 months I have chest pain that no one can give me an answer for. I originally thought I was having a heart attack or heart problems. I have been to many Doctors/Specialist plus multiple ER visits. All negative. It is very scary at times and what caused me to have anxiety. TO make matters worse my father just passed away unexpectedly from an apparent heart attack. He was only 65 and had no preexisting conditions. You can only imagine what was going through my mind after that happened. There were two options, I could have mentally went back to where I was originally and started the cycle all over again. The other option was to get through it. I obviously got through it. It was not easy. None of this has been easy for me.

I do understand where you are coming from and what you are feeling. It is hard to accept the fact that most of it is anxiety. You have had test done and all are coming back negative. I even went as far as getting a Lyme disease test done.

You seem like me in a sense that you are doing all the right things but still anxious and worried. It is really tough but you will get through it. Believe me it will get easier. I am currently weening off of klonopin and dealing with side effects right now. But I am still able to move forward everyday and believe that you will be able to as well.

Thanks wolf44 for your encouragement. Even today, I'm having sharp pain going up my left shoulder every now and then. My hands have been a little sore lately so I'm not sure if that's related. I had to take Xanax every night before bed for the past 5 days (.25-.5 mg) too so maybe it's somewhat of a withdrawal? I took a probiotic last night after eating camp food all week (for a camp I volunteer for) so maybe it's that too? I'm still waiting on these heart results too which I'll know on Wednesday.

It's just so hard to ignore these things. I don't even want to go out anymore. I don't feel confident as a person anymore because of all of this. It sucks. I HOPE it gets easier. It's been a very long 3+ years and it feels like it hasn't gotten much better. I still live in constant fear. Every medical test has showed that I'm healthy but I tend to keep having these "life-threatening" symptoms constantly, especially in the mornings. =(

Alright guys,
The verdict is in: I got my ECHO, EKG, ASI, stroke/carotid artery ultrasound, abdominal aortic aneurysm ultrasound, PAD, lipid panel results back. EVERYTHING was normal or optimal! They didn't even see a trace of plaque build up anywhere but that's because I'm only 24.

The only thing that they found was that my mitral valve had a "trace" of regurgitation. Does anyone know about this? That's the only thing that I'm worried about, as I don't want it to progress to mitral valve prolapse or to the point where I'm having bad symptoms and can't exercise or something worse. I feel like a 24 year old shouldn't be getting any bad news from an echocardiogram like that (unless he/she has a heart defect or congenital heart condition) but that's how I'm thinking about it. I'm going to post about it on a health forum to see if a physician can maybe help me not worry about it. I will fax my results to my doctor so that he has it at least.
