RISPERDAL-SIDE EFFECTS???
« on: June 18, 2006, 09:48:57 PM »
After many years of nothing else workin, I was recently put on Risperdal .25 mg. twice daily. All I want to do is sleep and feel like a truck ran me over when I am able to get up. I asked the Doc and he advised I wouldn't feel like this. Anyone have experiences with this medication? I'm also on Klonipin and Prozac, but have been.I'm usually like a horse on meds, but this one is kicking my butt....... The Risperdal is new to me. Anyone that can give me a hand, please do......Thanks, Kim

I took Risperdal for many months, I'm off now but will be back on them in winter. (seasonal anxiety, GAD and panic)

Yes, the first week I was tired the next day..so each day I took them 1/2 hour earlier.  I found out if I took them at 5:30pm, I would not be tired the next day.

I also felt like my tongue was fat in the morn for 4 days and that went away.

This drug is a miracle drug for me!!  They work right away, no waiting.  After that first week I had no side effects.

I had more problems with other anti-depressants than I did this drug. The only reason I went off was because I do ok in the summer without meds and I wanted to give my body a break.  I will take them again when I need to in the winter.

This is my experience...

If you want to ask me any question at all, feel free

Risperdal is an anti-psychotic drug...I am sure it may work at times if your in full blown psychosis...but for anxiety or GAD its like hitting a nail with a sledge hammer

I watched as Risperdal destroyed my mother...turned her into a zombie.. and she lost all of her personality and interests, gave her Tardive Dyskinesia as well.. She sat in front of a TV until she died just a few months later after not taking care of herself and getting herself checked when she a very bad case of the flu...

I honestly can say it destroyed my mother...

One of my good friends was put on it and the exact same thing happened...until I urged him to get off that crap... he is back to normal now.

From what I have researched... it is often prescribed "Off label" for other issues, it can turn you into an almost catatonic state, it can lead to permanent brain damage and permanent neuropathy as well as permanent Tardive Dyskinesia...

But hey this is just my view of this drug... I am sure that it may help some people...like in a Medical Prison setting

My father has been on Risperdal for 12 years. He is Bi-polar, with highs of the bipolarness. And he is fine now. The drug never effected him in anyway whatsoever, he responded pretty well to it. In the beginning he'd sleep alot, and just sit there, but after a few months, he started to get back to normal.

Do not fear what may happen tomorrow. The same loving Father who cares for you today will care for you tomorrow and everyday. Either he will shield you from suffering or He will give you unfailing strength to bear it. Be at peace then and put aside all anxious thoughts and imaginings.
