Hello all. New member here hoping to gain some insight and help others where i can while doing so.
Here is my back story:
I am 32, Male, 5'11" and 220 pounds. Ex-smoker of 15 years. Married with 2 kids (2 and 5 yr olds)
In June of this year I went into the ER with burning sharp pains in my upper left chest. Had the left arm tingles as well so first thing to pop into my mind...Heart Attack. Had EKG, Chest X-Ray and UA done all returning normal results. By happen stance the ER doc noticed a rash just below my left nipple and this rash was spotty and wrapped around to my left Scapula. Immediately he determined I had Shingles. While pushing on the rash the pain was intensified and I was quickly prescribed Acyclovir and some pain meds for the neuralgia pain.
A month later (July) I went back into the ER as my left jaw began to tingle along with the tingling sensation still remaining in my left chest (and also radiating to my right chest at times near the sternum). Again I was given an EKG and blood work with the same negative results. My ER doc for that day suggested I speak with my GP and figure out why my chest is still in pain as that is unusual for a 32 year old male to still have after shingles (the chest pain that is). In regards to the jaw pain, he said it was merely Paresthesia and not at all unrelated to Anxiety. This was the first time i was "Hinted" at having Anxiety. Spoke with my GP and he told me my tests were normal and i should try Gabapentin. First does, WEEEE my whole body tingled like never before. I couldn't sleep, i couldn't move, i was frozen with fear. Next day I told him about this reaction (which is not listed as a side effect) and he suggested stopping that and taking Lyrica for the neuralgia pain (The Lyrica did absolutely nothing for my pain either but i took it for 3 weeks before stopping it).
Another month goes by (August) and back into the ER I go thinking "This pain in my chest feels different, this must be something bad". This time I was kept for 8+ hours and given 2 EKGs, 2 Blood workups, 2 UAs, Stress Test with Echo and a chest X-Ray 2 view (Lateral and PA).
Again all tests came back normal and the ER doc says this "The bad news is I can't tell you why you have chest pain, the good news is...it's not your heart" Since then I switched my GP to someone who actually understands Anxiety and HA. He prescribed me Citalopram 10mg and suggested I buy a book called "When Panic Attacks by Dr. David D. Burns" Amazing read btw and highly suggest it to anyone with Anxiety/Depression.
Things were starting to look up finally and that brings me to today. The pain is still there in my left chest that comes and goes and is never felt during sleep (7-8 hours every night but always wake up at least once so not a straight 7-8 hours). It sometimes sits in my sternum, then moves along above/below my left nipple, then over to my right chest close to the sternum. Some times I can touch areas where it feels painful and intensify the pain and/or sometimes "Massage" the pain out. At times it will feel like a whole lot of tension and then almost like a pop with a rush of warm tingling sensations throughout my body lasting for 10-15 seconds. Other times i won't feel anything and it will be VERY dull and easy to ignore if I distract myself. And then other days it's almost impossible to ignore the pain as it is constant and burning/aching like very very sore muscles/deep pain. Sometimes feel Breathlessness and begin to really focus on breathing which doesn't help any, but causes concern.
Started doing Physical Therapy as my Neurologists suggested it could be Myofacial Trigger pain and/or Referral pain. So far (3 weeks in) doesn't seem to make much of a difference.
Does the above symptoms seem familiar to anyone else going though something similar?
Are these symptoms normal for Anxiety/Depression while taking Citalopram or just in general:
-Building chest tension then pop with tingling/burning sensation over body
-Feeling body weakness like something is just not right (flu like feelings without the flu)
-Constant thoughts of doom and gloom
-Pressure on chest (near sternum) resulting in having to move around (panicky i suppose)
-Able to intensify and or "Massage" the pain out of chest sometimes with hands
-Zero pain during rest
-Always waking up at least once during sleep at night
-Breathlessness when focusing on breathing (chasing full breath)
-General Fatigue at times and/or lack of motivation
-Muscle Tremors at times in chest area
-Difficulty convincing myself (even after all the tests done so far) that things are ok
Sorry for the wall of text, just hoping someone can relate. I am fearful this almost constant chest pain is something more serious and the right tests have not been done yet like MRI or CT Scan or something...
P.S. "When Panic Attacks" Is an amazing read for anyone with Anxiety/Depression.

I highly suggest giving it a read (just wish it had more HA in it)
