But also, as I discussed in another thread yesterday, you've got to understand the mechanics of what is going on with anxiety, if you understand that and apply it to ANYTHING you think, then you can let thoughts go far easier.
So look at what's wrong at the ROOT level and it will help you UNDERSTAND what's happening, when you understand what's happening at ROOT level - then you won't worry anywhere near as much because it isn't as baffling, scary, overwhelming, or as BEWILDERING as before.
So what's happening at the ROOT level??
WELL YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER YOU HAVE ANXIETY (I know that sounds obvious but we forget all too easily when we go off worrying!!) and anxiety plays havoc with the emotions because you are anxious and so out of balance emotionally. When the emotions are all over the place they affect our rational thinking and when we haven't got the capacity for rational thinking AND our emotions are out of balance, look out because weird things can happen - and the severer the anxiety, the weirder they can get.
So IF we can remember that all that is going on at the ROOT level then we can see how we might get into trouble when we watch a murder scene in a movie and we think about what we have just seen.
Our thoughts are going to be the same thoughts as the next person - the next person who hasn't got anxiety just thinks "I don't how anyone could do that without any remorse?" - BUT when an anxious person thinks "I don't know how could anybody do that without remorse?" they add the famous "what if" - "what if I was like that?", "what if that was me?", etc. BECAUSE THIS HAPPENS WHEN WE HAVE ANXIETY and spike our emotions by watching murder scenes, action movies, etc, and the adrenalin starts a pumpin'
Now what they don't realise is (or what they forget) is that they are ANXIOUS and anxious minds think like this - BECAUSE THEY HAVE ANXIETY!
But that is forgotten and so they see that they have thought a "dreadful" thought and in comes FEAR again. "Oh No WHAT IF I was like that ?
", "What if that happened to me?
", etc. etc.
And so off they go on an emotional rollercoaster - guilt trip, etc. - but if we could just remember what was wrong at the ROOT level and accepted that - then these weird thoughts would be expected and so when they came - which they will it is virtually inevitable - they wouldn't worry us they same.
Lots of people on here could have told you yesterday that if you watched a murder scene then this would happen to you
not because we are all psychic (don't worry about that
), but because YOU ARE EXTREMELY ANXIOUS at the moment and we understand what is happening at the ROOT level, we know what the ROOT cause of your problem is.
Once you understand that and accept that then this weird sh*t becomes less weird and you WILL become less anxious.
