New here just needed a safe place to land..
« on: June 16, 2006, 11:34:29 AM »
I have PTSD and chronic depression. My primary care doctor doesn't have much time to help me as I am on Medicare and she gets paid min. for providing Medicare patients. Also I feel that since I'm not very 'fixable' that she doesn't want to waste time working with me. I see her mostly for my fibromyalgia and she isn't much help there either since she doesn't want me to turn into a drug addict with prescription pain meds. I find the one and only good results I get is when my good friend from Oregon comes to visit and we share a little of her medical marijuana. I know some people don't think pot should be legal but it gives the most relief from my pain that I don't care if the cops bust down my door to steal the one joint we both share.  I guess I just needed to vent...sorry

Dont apologize for your feelings, it is ok to feel like you do.
I understand pain as I had endometreosis from 16 years till 30.  I was on pain killers all that time...Toradal, Tylonol 3's, and other pain relievers.  I had used some that allowed me to sleep and some that kept me awake.  I didn't even know there was Tylonal 4's until the doc perscribed them when the 3's no longer worked.  really the pain was so bad if I didnt take the meds that I was crumpled on the floor in agony.

I didnt take anything that wasnt perscribed but I really see how that would be an alternative as I thought about it but am allergic.

I dont understand doctors that worry about addictions when a person cant function without a medication anyway??

Where I'm from, they have been talking about making maijuana legal but only for medicinal purposes and I wish they would...there are a lot of people suffering from all sorts of desieses and perscription pain meds are useless, especially when it is long term or terminal.

Since you cant get help with your PTSD I would suggest you take a vitamin B complex...preferable liquid or at least in capsules as your body absorbs more when its not so hard.  Also try liquid calcium and magnesium (you should be able to get this at a pharmacy without a perscription)

Are you able to see a councellor or psyc. to do some behavior therapy?  To help you deal with the event in your life that brought this on?

I wish you had access to better care...please dont you stop looking for solutions, sometimes we are able to find what we need if we keep trying.

Best of luck to you :) :)

I totally agree that they should use it for medicinal purposes.  I guess the government have find a good way to profit from it.

Anyway maybe you could see a psychiatrist through medicare where you could get the medication you need especially for your anxiety.  I know in my town there are mental health places you can go and pay on a sliding scale.

Take care,

Cin

i can totally understand how you could turn to pot as an escape. I did the same thing and graduated to a few other.  But I found, the more I do drugs, the worse my anxiety and depression gets later. And that especially someone with a mental disorder can become addicted. I'm a hypocryte for saying so, but i think you should find an alternative. I think you can do it.
