I am at my wits end. My mother suggested I connect with other people with the same diagnoses as myself so here I am, hoping for the best.
Back in August I started my night off with a little indigestion, nothing serious, but as soon as I laid down, I could have swore I was having a heart attack. My chest hurt, my arm went numb, and my jaw began to ache and eventually it went numb as well. On the way to the hospital my entire body went numb and I felt like I was about to pass out. I was told I was breathing too fast and I needed to get it under control and that is why I was feeling faint. At the hospital they gave me the complete heart work up; ekg, chest xray, blood work, everything. I was discharged with anxiety and was given a six day supply of ativan. But I didn't stop there. In a 2 week period I went to every hospital in my county and spent more time in the hospital waiting room than I did at home. I was diagnosed with having costochondritis but in short, I was just experiencing really bad anxiety.
Well it is October and I have this headache that feels the base of my skull is congested. It feels like there's a lot of pressure and almost a fluid build up feeling. I have had this for 3 weeks. I go to bed with it and I wake up with it and it doesn't respond to medicine. My left arm feels slightly colder than my left even though everyone tells me there is no difference in temperature and my joints ache so bad I can't use my hand sometimes. My left calf and foot are crampy and give a numbing/tingly sensation that never seems to go away.
Before this happened in August I was completely healthy. I had no worries and I was actually finalizing baby shower details the night I had this first panic attack. I changed doctors and she has been amazing. She thinks it's anxiety as well but has agreed to go through the motions to rule everything out. I have had a full spine xray that came back normal (I have horrible back aches and thought maybe I had a slipped disc or something causing the numbing in my leg), blood work that came back normal besides a vitamin D deficiency, and next week I am being tested for DVT in my left calf and a head CT.
My question is this: when I have a panic attack, can the symptoms last for days like this? I panic once or twice a week (over my health).
