My goodness, you poor thing.
Is it any wonder you are experiencing all this anxiety and pain?
You have to realise that our bodies can only take so much stress, then something has to give.
In a lot of us it takes form as anxiety, be it Health, OCD, PSD etc...
Like you, I too had an abusive partner. It wasn't so bad that he was beating me up, but after having a baby with him and trying to live with him as a family and not knowing where I stood or what was going to happen, just got too much. I managed to leave him and found a wonderful husband who is kind and supportive through all this that I am going through now.
But my anxiety didn't start until a few years later after another child, a failed business and health worries.
I look at it as my body finally having a nervous breakdown!
I'm sorry to hear that you had an unsupporting doctor, unfortunately there are some out there that don't understand anxiety.
Is there any chance you could see another doctor, give it a try again? I really feel you could do with some support, Its important that you do not feel ashamed of what you are experiencing.
The other the thing I want to say is that anxiety can manifest all sorts of pains and sensations. They are very real and not in your head, but have no medical consequence to them.
There are so many self help techniques you can try to help over come these, I try so many and I find that the more I find out about and use, the better I am becoming.
My family have seen such a change in me, I feel as though I am slowly coming back to the old me.
I was stuck in a cycle of such fear I couldn't even get out of bed. I was frightened of have a heart attack, stroke, blood clots, MS and more. I was such a mess, going to the doctors nearly every day begging them to help me, having panic attacks all the time. I tried so many medications, but kept on reacting to them.
So all that I have done to make myself better is learn what I can about the bodies reaction to stress and how to help my self over come the pains and sensations.
Do you have access to a library? If you can, I recommend reading any Clare Weekes books you can get your hands on. Paul David 'At Last A Life' is a good book and he has a website: http://www.anxietynomore.co.uk/
Also the Charles Linden method is really good, and he explains what's going on with anxiety in our bodies really well.
I'm sorry if this is a rambling message, I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone with this.
Stay strong and keep believing you can get through this.
Anxiety is just a mask, it is not you. xx
