lol, i came onto check pm's and nosed around here and saw my name and my fantastical eye ailment brought up.
did your eye doc actually say there was something wrong with your optic nerve?? your post read as there was nothing pathological about it at this time. so you seem good to go.
according to my understanding eye pressure doesn't change due to stress/anxiety AND people can't feel changes in eye pressure unless it is of the ACUTE onset glaucoma. which, as i understand, is a pretty much get to the eye doc now sort of thing. what people mistake as eye pressure as in the intraocular pressure is REALLY just pressure originating behind the eyes--- due to stress or tension headaches or sinus type stuff.
as green mentioned, ongoing stress/anxiety IS a real nasty thing for a body. Mine WAS due to STRESS. it is called, for those who didn't know---central serous chorioretinopathy. last dec/jan my hubs had a scary dx, my family had a visit from lice, my mom had a massive stroke that left her in and out of lucidity and her daughters were left with making life/death decisions. Obviously this was greatly upsetting and living in NY and her in TX only made matters more difficult. I noticed through January my vision getting worse in one eye, but was BUSY. it was on January 20th, the day my mom died, I noted substantial deficit in my eye----it was like seeing through thick smoke, blurry , things smaller, etc etc. When I got home I went straight to the opthamologist.
long story short, too late
, I am now being followed by a retina specialist. Between January and September I've been to the ophthalmologist 4X and the retina doc 3X. I have had my pressure checked 7 times, lol. I went through a few tests--with one being injected with a dye to find how many leaks I had. this time I had 3 with one being LARGE and near the macula. Yes, I said this time
. The eye tests show I've had this in the past as evidenced by little white marks (which I take is similar to scarring) on my retinas. I never had a clue. the eye doc says because the other times the leaks were smaller and near the edges of my vision. 9 months later the leaks are almost completely gone and my vision is about 90% back to normal.
some may ask what causes this. Most often stress.... stress releases adrenaline. In my case my eyes/retinas don't much care for it and my retina gets little tears and blood leaks behind. Since my eyes are susceptible to this I can no longer take any type steroid----even those nasal sprays--ie flonase.
so peeps when you are incredulous that anxiety or stress can cause headaches or constipation or diarrhea or sore muscles or cramps or the popular twitching or stomaches or reflux or ingestion or peeing too much or tingles etc, ETC, ETC.
JUST look at what stress and too much adrenaline did to me.
Stress and anxiety are never a JUST. it affects a body negatively and the sooner you can get ahold of it, the better off you will be....
AND guys note I haven't been living anxiously for a while now...... BUT stress, well, it is a part of life. sometimes we can control some of it but sometimes life gives a bunch to manage.
btw----- I'm doing great. I'm happy as a clam.
good luck and be well
