prescribed me lexapro 10mgs and I couldn't take it the first day it made me feel horrible (note I took this 9 years ago and it helped me tremendously)
Most people with anxiety would find 10mg too high a starting dose. Half that would have been kinder, and some do much better when they start on only 2.5mg. Also be aware that there is considerable anecdotal evidence that the initial side-effects can be more severe if antidepressants have been taken before. You might also need to take a higher dose to achieve previous results.
then he prescribed me wellbutrin and it sky rocketed my anxiety to another level it was horrible.
Wellbutrin (buspirone) is by far the most stimulating antidepressant which may be great for depression, but few with anxiety can tolerate it.
Now Prozac, but I am so scared to take it I have been able to control my anxiety by watching relaxation videos and just trying to avoid and ignore negative thoughts, but I guess I need some positive feedback before taking this.
Given your recent experiences it is understandable that you'd be reluctant to try yet another antidepressant. However, these were made much harder than they should have been. The first few weeks on antidepressants can be unpleasant, but most people do get through this if they are started on a small
dose of a suitable
med. Hopefully, this time you have been prescribed 10mg tablets to begin with. If not, demand a prescription for fluoxetine 10mg tablets, not capsules, so that you can cut it in half if necessary. Also consider having a benzodiazepine to help ease you through any rough spots.
