Gah - this is really starting to bother me
A little less than a month ago, I had bright red bleeding with bowel movements. It seemed to come after the stool, was on the outside of it, plus in the water and on the toilet paper. I freaked out. I've had external hems before and those hurt - but this was completely painless.
Called my doc on day 3 and they made me go to the ER. ER did a fecal occult test which came back negative. By this time the blood had already begun to subside. It disappeared completely within another two days or so.
I followed up with my doc, who thought it was absolutely nothing to worry about, but she offered to refer me for a flex sig. She thought it was probably internal hems.
I had the flex sig yesterday and the GI doc didn't find any internal hems. He did say I have some irritation in the first inch or two of the rectum, which he prescribed suppositories for. They tested for Crohns and colitis, which came back negative.
My worry is - if there isn't any internal hems - where the heck did the bleeding come from? I haven't had any bleeding in a good three weeks, but I am still worried that it might come back. GI doc said if it did return I would need a full colonoscopy.
I should also mention that in the 2 weeks prior to this, my husband was in the ICU and almost died. Needless to say this caused a HUGE amount of stress on me, which led to some pretty wacky BMs (explosive diarrhea etc)
Is it possible I had an internal hem a month ago, which caused the bleeding, and it's since gone away? I find that hard to believe but I'm really worried.....
