Favorite Song To Relieve Stress?
« on: June 12, 2006, 12:37:35 AM »
When you are in a bind with anxiety creeping into your mind, sometimes the best thing to do is play your favorite song and 'get lost in the music.' What is your favorite song/music generé in this situation? What do you recomend? Do you have any other ideas to stop impending doom?

Do you guys ever find yourselves playing devil's advocate in your mind? Here is an example of a typical transcript from my mind during any common everyday situation (feel free to share some of your brain's dialouge for fun):
My GAD mind: What's this pain in my stomach, maybe I'm suffering from something very serious, let if I become very I'll, what would I do and where would I go?
My Mind: I'm over reacting right now, just act normal in front of these people and stop thinking stupid things like that
My GAD mind: I think im starting to feel very sick maybe I should leave, I really need an escape right now I feel trapped and I think im going insane
My Mind: If I was going insane I wouldnt even realize it, so clearly I have some logic. I need to stop worring, its annoying me and controlling my whole life.
My GAD Mind: I'm not going to be able to do anything or go anywhere because I might start feeling really miserable and scared. I'll probably never be able to enjoy things. I dont want to die, let if I die soon, I think i might be dying, I'm very out of touch with reality and will never be able to fully enjoy things without fear.
My Mind: Wow, of course I am fine right now, I just need to stop these negative thoughts. Thjis is mind over matter, and I will prove myself wrong by facing my fears and doing something fun.

Anyways, I guess I'm just bored right now.... do you guys have similar transcripts from your thoughts?

Yes common dialogue...

"I'm ok" "This will pass"  "I'm not going crazy"  "Just hold on for a little longer you will be just fine"

oppossed to"I want it to stop"  "whats wrong with me?"  "what if I die tonight?"  "I want to grow old with my kids and my husband,  What would they do without me"

yes.. i think of stuff like that all the time.  I hate it, cuz once ive finally accepted the fact that its all "anxiety", i'll get a symptom like a headache, or i cant get as full of a breath as i would like, and that acceptance flys right out the window and i start questioning, well, what if i really do have something serious?  And that makes my anxiety go way up. :dazed:
