Am I crazy?
« on: February 21, 2008, 10:10:24 AM »
So, I have been to my doctor around 10 times in the past 2 1/2 months b/c I am terrified I have something wrong with me.  I was worried about MS, my doctor told  me that I do not have MS and not to worry about it.  I have had 2 MRI's in the past year, both came back completely normal.  I still worry.  When I get on here, I start feeling better b/c other people are the same way, then I start worrying about the things I read.  Like, someone posted about popping and cracking....I do this too, I think I have always done this but now I am concerned it is worse.  My left arm has a stress knot in it and I keep rubbing it and am convinced that means something bad too.  Now I am worried about ALS...WHY???  Would not have ever even thought to be worried about cracking until I read someone else being concerned about it.  So, my question is, Am I HA or is there something to worry about?  I know it sounds silly and I should be able to reason with myself, but I am not reasonable at this point in time!  Help...

As I have said to you before Staddy....I'm sure you are fine.

Whilst this site is useful in gaining an understanding that other people are going through the same things etc etc, the downside is that a lot of scared and frightened people post without necesarily thinking about the effect that the post will have on other people who may be in an even worse place.

In many ways, I think it is far more advantagous to only really involve yourself in posts that you can gain from.....stuff about positive thinking etc etc....posts that talk about symptoms and vague medical things as if they are medical fact are best avoided until you are in a better place yourself and one wrong word or phrase can really knock your progress back.

With this condition that age old adage is very true.....a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.

I know you are right...I just can't seem to get over this.  I think I need to take a break from this site as well as any others that are related to health issues.  I went to my doctor again on Monday and she reassured me that I am fine and suffer from anxiety.  I felt really good again and I thought, ok, I can beat this.  I am fine.  Then it just showed it's ugly head again.  Thanks for replying.
