Has anyone tried any natural remedies for his/her anxiety?
My psychiatrist has approved the use of Fish Oil supplements., and I think normally they come in 1000mg a pill (but I believe that's just the weight of the capsule and less so for the Omega 3 supplement which it provides). From what I researched, there have been studies documenting their effectiveness in controlling anxiety, especially in populations that eat lots of fish.
However I believe you have to take large quantities of Fish Oil to receive a marginal effect, like 10 tablets a day, and you may initially develop diarrhea if you take too many too soon, so you have to slowly build up your tolerance to them, just like an antidepressant. For me that's a lot of tablets, if taken alone, and I wouldn't go to a homeopathic for guidance on how many to take, as they build in your system. Homeopathics really don't have a lot of medical training about supplements and medications, unless you find one with a medical degree. For all you know, that person may have just finished a crash course on supplements online and found this to be their certification program, so you should go to an expert on supplement management, which would be a doctor.
If you're resistant to doctors, you may need to re-evaluate your stance, where you may have gone to a couple of bad ones, but there are good ones out there. I mention all this because if you are treating a health issue, such as an anxiety disorder, you really should treat it with a specialist who understands how these supplements work with your body. And supplements may not work most effectively for you alone, without the boost of another antidepressant.
Like Insights wrote, I also haven't heard good stuff about Kava Kava.
