I'm getting concerned with the symptoms I'm having. Lets get the fact out that worries me slightly: I know I have gallstones. The last time they were checked probably a year ago they were causing no problems. I've had the symptoms I'm about to discuss before, but they have never lasted this long.
What I'm experiencing encompasses my whole digestive region, at least that is how I feel. It feels like I have a constant need to burp, and eating makes it worse. However, when I burp it doesn't relieve the pressure/bloating feeling. It feels like there is a constant air bubble/mass of something stuck in the back of my throat/upper chest/upper stomach area. At times I get pangs of pain in my chest, right behind the breastbone. At other times I get a pain all across my stomach, right about where my ribcage ends...it's like this really tight feeling and painful. I've been having some bowel issues also. Sometimes I feel like I need to pass gas, but can't. I'm also having less frequent bowel movements, and when I do go, I have to strain a bit, and I go very little. I also have been getting frequent heartburn in the middle of the night, and TUMS don't seem to relieve it. And this month, my period is late (I don't know if this has any relation to what is going on or not).
My fear is that I have some kind of tumor or mass blocking the easy flow of everything and preventing proper digestion. The logical part of me says maybe it's just IBS or something like it. I should mention that a few months ago when I was having a similar problem (the endless burping that didn't relieve pressure, etc.), I had a barium swallow done that revealed nothing. There were no further studies.
Can anyone offer some insight or opinions into what might be going on? I'm close to thinking I need to make a doctor's appointment, but I have no insurance, and very little extra money to cover this if it turns out to just be anxiety or something simple.
