SSRI's and sexual side effects help.
« on: January 29, 2008, 06:43:56 PM »
Here is the deal I am on Celexa 20mg daily for a while now.  I recently got a new girlfriend.  She is my first BTW.  I cannot achieve an orgasm during sex and it is killing her.  She literally cries afterward.  She says she will work through it with me but also hinted that if I cannot overcome this she may leave me because she really enjoys getting me off.  I am really stressed about his.

And so the circle begins, the more anxious / stressed you get over this the worse it will be.  I am also on Celexa and have noticed I am not as interested in sex and orgasams don't come as easy as they used to, as long as your partner understands and you try to relax and not focus on the issue things should start falling in place

Yep, 'fraid its a well known SSRI issue. Sexual dysfunction tends to effect anywhere up to 50% of people - that can be anything from prolonged duration to orgasm, or complete impotence.

I took exactly the same drug for a couple of weeks - and within one week I was rendered impotent.

Thankfully within a few days of stopping the effect was reversed.

I dont want to be negative but if my partner wasnt very understanding about the anxiety/med issue I would be having 2nd thoughts about the validity of that relationship....
