"Each of us sees the Unseen in proportion to the clarity of our heart, and that depends upon how much we have polished it. Whoever has polished it more sees more – more Unseen forms become manifest". – JALALUDDIN RUMI

As your meditation deepens, there will still be occasions when you get upset, but you will be able to watch what goes on in the lab of your mind. It’s like getting into a glass-bottomed boat, where you venture out onto the ocean and watch all the deep-sea creatures lurking beneath the surface: resentment sharks, stingrays of greed, scurrying schools of fear. You slowly gain a certain amount of detachment from your mind, so you can observe what is going on, collect data, and then set things right.

Some of the chronic problems that millions of people suffer from today might be solved by gaining a little detachment from their minds and emotions, so they can stand back a little when the mind is agitated and see the ways in which it makes mountains out of molehills. Many problems simply are not real; they start to seem real only when we dwell on them. The thorniest problems to solve are those that are not real; yet most of us go on giving them our best efforts.

I got this from today's thought for the day here - http://www.easwaran.org/thoughts-for-the-day-quotes.html

Thought it was very appropriate for this post.  :action-smiley-065:

"How do I love thee? Let me count the ways." Meditation, that is. I do so love it every day. Look forward to sitting twice a day. Now I do listen to music, maybe that is cheating. In ancient times they did not have Mozart, Bach, Beethoven, Vivaldi, etc. Otherwise they would have cheated too, ha ha.

TY for the quote and the website. We can check it for inspiration every day. Wonderful.

Don't know where you are doogle, but your gift of the link is a treasure every day. Every day I read him.

Today's message is so pertinent re gifts. And then he tells us that just by being human we each can choose to change, to grow. What could be better? Many thanks for the link.

Started reading a book about mindfulness. Lots of meditation tips and good explanations of the things that happen in our brain.

I'm also reading this book right now:

Dick Swaab is one of the best "brain researchers" in the world.
Translation of the title would be something like "We are our brain", "From uterus to alzheimers".
Amazing book, about all aspects of our brain. Why we do what we do. Not sure it's translated in English already, but if it is, I would highly recommend it.

This thread rises from the ashes like the Phoenix. The reality is not many people are interested.

Thank you for the link. A fantastic book. It comes out in English in January and our library has it on order. Wonder what he has to say about Freud and the beginnings in a person's life. I still think they are mighty important, even time in the womb. Knew that homosexuality originates in the brain, just as heterosexuality does. In fact, most everything is in the brain (or missing). Eager to read the book.

They may indeed by interested but are worried they'll be sitting under trees, maybe even happily watching the world go by.

Like the wandering Odysseus they are wary of seduction to a lifestyle from which there is no return. Once they cut loose from Penelope, who knows what might happen? So they peek, but flee, ha ha.

P.S. The message from Easwaran (doogle's link, post 271) is right on for many. As I read it, we must find peace in our private world before we can give what is needed in relationships.

Here's one for those that are interested then:

Who am I? .......... If you begin to be what you are, you will realise everything, but to begin to be what you are, you must come out of what you are not. You are not those thoughts which are turning, turning in your mind; you are not those changing feelings; you are not the different decisions you make and the different wills you have; you are not that separate ego.

Well then, what are you? Who are you? .......... You will find that out when you have come out of what you are not.
