OCD meds for children
« on: May 24, 2006, 05:18:52 PM »
My son, 11, has several diagnosis, OCD being the main one, along with bipolar disorder,  and ADHD. He has been tried on several SSRI's (Prozac, Luvox, and one other) they all make his behavior WORSE !!! Does anyone have any success with other meds for the anxiety and OCD we could suggest to the doctor? I had read maybe Anafranil could be helpful? He is currently on Trileptal, Risperdal and tapering off of Zyprexa for mood swings.  Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Lamictal is a mood stablizer

Murelax calms and promotes sleep

Moclobemide (Aurorix) is an anti depressant - these are what a friend with Bi-polar uses.

he says with the lest amount of side-effects. I dont know if kids can take them, but then I didn't know kids could take Risperdal which is what I was on.

Worth talking to the doctor about maybe?
