argh! i know how stupid this is, but im so overtired i cant think rationally, i was researching these "sleep starts" that i keep having, and i came across a forum where a bunch of people were having the same thing and some bloody bone head on there said that people think that these sleep starts are evidance mind control invasion or some crap, so i freaked out and gooled it, and now im freaking out even more :(   help!

I don't think you have anything to worry about with that :/ What are sleep starts, anyway?

Just myclonic jerks.....bit like dreaming, everyone does it but you don't always notice it or are aware of it.

I am pretty much of the opinion that we are all subject to mind control with the TV and media nowadays but don't really think an explainable and fully documented medical event has anything to do with it.

For goodness sakes ....

You have not been subconsciously invaded

You have not been anally probed by aliens

What total nonsense...

You are perfectly fine

...and err .. researching is just a sneaky way of saying ' Googling ' ... so stop it.

I recently attended a workplace info session all about sleep - how much to get, how it works, etc.  The jerks are COMPLETELY normal and happen to just about everyone.  They're annoying when you're a person who often has trouble falling asleep (yours truly), but nothing to worry about.  I wish I could remember the official term for them!

Yes, I get them while I am still awake but trying to fall asleep- just as I start to relax.

I get the same thing.  I am still kinda awake when it happens most of the time, and notice it during stressful times, or times when I haven't gotten a lot of sleep.  Don't worry, it happens to everyone now and then! Make yourself stay laying down when it happens, cuz if you get up from being freaked about it, you will get yourself more worried and will lose even more sleep, so this symptom will keep happening. Something that helps me relax before bed is crawling into bed with a crossword puzzle (how romantic  :-*).  I usually get so tired after finishing one or two.
