pain
« on: March 23, 2013, 10:36:49 AM »
I have had pain on and off along the mid back and then on the right side ribs and then next to the navel. Sometimes it is all I can do to go about my day with this pain. I have gone to my doctor and she has always stated that it is either part of the fibromyalgia or the time of life I happen to be going through.
I know that it comes upon me if I sit incorrectly at the computer at the desk. I also sit in the car as I drive back and forth between my house and my parents place (about 35 minutes away on a good day).
I have been under a lot of stress in the last year or so and I have not relaxed like I want to. Even my acupuncture appointment was not as calming as it usually is this past week because I lost an earring that meant a lot to me as I was getting ready.
I know that what I am stating is something that everyone states or goes through I guess I needed to air my issues.
Perhaps if I go out and get a massage but I really can not even do that because of a DVT issue. I used to have massages all the time (about 6 times a year) before the DVT. Now for the last 13 yrs I have not. So I have been doing well with the acupuncture but there are somethings that just keep persisting.
I am sorry about complaining.

Don't be sorry!  Pain is something to complain about.  I have chronic pain of unknown origin.  IcyHot helps me a lot because it kind of "covers up" the pain for me for a while, giving me enough to time to fall asleep (my pain is tolerable most of the time but when I'm trying to sleep suddenly I can't stand it!).  Has your doctor talked to you about pain management strategies?

Pain management that she has told me about is some medication that I rub in that was expensive before the insurance kicked in and it actually has some side effects I refuse to use it as a result. It has side effects like heart issues. (last year my mother had 2- 14 hour aortic aneurysm dissection surgeries and my father had a stroke) so I do not need more heart or vascular issues.
I do take ibuprofen and on me it has a sedative effect. So I will take it every now and again if the pain is horrible.
I will use a heating pad as well.
I also use salonpas (I think they are sort of like Icy Hot). My husband also suggested Icy Hot. So perhaps tomorrow I will go to the drug store and search it out.
Thank you.
I just don't want to be something other than the fibro or the peimenopause part of life.
I am thinking like cancer along that line.

Fibro can cause pretty much any kind of pain or discomfort imaginable.  I would keep asking your doctor about alternatives if the original option isn't good for you.
