what exactly would a CT scan of the brain show?

I've had a few of them over the past couple years, without contrast, and I'm just wondering, what exactly would that show???  I've had symptoms that come and go, like head pressure, lightheadedness/dizziness, blurry vision (only happened once a couple years ago), pains in my head, etc.  The lightheadedness happens alot.  I guess my biggest fear is of course a brain tumor, and I've heard most people have MRI's to diagnose those.  So my fear is that a CT scan wouldn't show them anything of importance...

The CT scan would show a brain tumor, a stroke, an aneurysm, AVM's (arterial venous malformations) and the
like. It is an excellent diagnostic tool.

So, then why are MRI's performed over CT scans?
