« on: March 22, 2013, 05:29:25 AM »
I have a few question and am hoping to find answers to :)

1. Are the type of HPV Virus that causes skin warts dangerous?
2. How are the skin wart HPV virus contracted?
3. How are these different from the ones that cause cervical cancer?
4. Is this an STD?

I've had corns on my feet since a few years ago.. and maybe about 6 months ago, i got something on my elbow that looked like a wart. It kinda looked like a nipple lol with all the rough skin. Pls help :)

HPV is well known for causing genital warts, and is treatable. there are also several vaccines available (at a cost of around £200) that will help protect you against some of the most dangerous strains.

As for your exact condition, I would recommend seeing a doctor to have it checked, it could just be normal warts, they can stick around for several years.

HPV has tons of different strains. Warts anywhere but the genitals are not an std. I had one on my leg when I was 5.  It's just a virus and most people have it. To my knowledge they are pretty harmless.  Genital warts are an std and pretty much harmless either.  Most cervical cancer is caused by strain 16 and 18 of hpv.  These strains don't cause warts.  I have one of those strains so I have had to have some cervical stuff done, but the dr said I wouldn't get warts from it.
