Employment Drug Test - MASSIVE anxiety
« on: March 21, 2013, 09:10:02 PM »
Oh my lanta. I took a pre-employment drug test on Tuesday morning...it was a 10 panel urine test + additional opiates + alcohol + nicotine. NOW, I am one of those people who really doesn't even take a tylenol. Yet here I sit, putting it in my head that I somehow must have failed it and that's why it has been 2 days and I haven't heard anything. This is my DREAM job at my DREAM hospital and the only thing standing between me and it is this stupid drug test and a background check (my only record is a speeding ticket lol) and yet I am sitting here thinking "oh I bet the albuterol sulfate you use for your asthma is gonna fail you", "Oh I bet that klonopin you were prescribed a couple years back and only used 3 times is gonna show up", and lastly "oh I bet that Lortab you were given in June when you dislocated your knee showed up too"....UGH THIS SUCKS! I really HATE anxiety!

Hello,

Just some thoughts, anxious people always make things bigger than they really are, well atleast I do. I can understand your anxiety, its your dream job, its what you want, anxiety will always put up some sort of fight. The kicker is try not to let it win. I really hope that your dream comes true. Let us know the verdict.

Thanks!!! I guess the average wait is 3-4 days which to me is agonizing but at least that means my 2 days (well 3 today) isn't unusual lol.

RN here, too. Not hearing back is a good thing. Besides, you got to write down what you take on the form, right? None of those show up in drug tests anyway, but if something did they'd just look at your list of meds and say, "Oh, yeah, that was written down." The tests are for specific drugs...but you know this, you are just scaring yourself to pieces.

Do some positive affirmations. When they don't call you about a drug test that means it's fine. I know how you feel about blowing stuff sky high in your mind. Go do some stuff you enjoy and don't worry. If it's time for this job in your life, it will all work out.
